Tory Nyhaug won a silver medal at the BMX supercross world championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The 22-year-old Coquitlam, B.C. native who wears FIVE TRX gloves, has improved greatly this year after placing fifth in last year’s world championships. The 2012 Olympian has also faced a lot of adversity in recent years. Prior to the Olympics in 2012, he ruptured his spleen a mere 11 weeks before the Games. On Sunday, Nyhaug achieved the best result of his career having finished twice on the podium in World Cups in the past two seasons.

Team Canada’s coach, Ken Cools, was happy with Nyhaug’s and the rest of the team’s performance, highlighting that despite Nyhaug not being the best in practice, he always steps up on race day.
